Sari  1:22
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Thank you for listening to your desires, to your heart to start or grow or scale your packaged food business. I'll just get right to it. This is the final episode of the Food Business Success podcast. Now I have a couple of gifts for you guys, some parting gifts, because, you know, I love to come from generosity. That's one of my core values, and so I want to be sure that you are taken care of. And the beauty is, is that there are over five years of podcast episodes. There are 260  downloads, plus. There's bonuses, of course, that you can listen to it anytime and to help you find what you are looking for, if you're new to the podcast, or if you're like there was an episode about this topic that I now need, or I just need Sari in my ear cheering me on. Then I want to let you know I did create a searchable podcast library where you can put in key terms, you can put in guest names, topics, and hopefully that will get you to the episode that you are looking for. It has been my honor and my pleasure to host this podcast for over five years. It launched on September 1, 2020,

Sari  2:48
Oh, let's just take a breath to that like, where were we over five years ago, our lives were being turned upside down, and I'm so proud of my past self, who, with my coach, the support of my coach, decided to start a podcast. She already had a YouTube channel, but it was time to amplify the message and to have this platform. And it is been such a treat to put together the episodes, everything from solo episodes, where I talk about mindset and entrepreneurship and things that are going to help support you in your journey, and then having amazing guest conversations, people in the industry who are supporting producers and makers like yourself. And then the amazing maker conversations, the founder conversations, and before the episode, I had to, like, arrange the shelf back here and make sure everybody could be seen, or even standing a little different place, because I can't get everybody on the shelf, unfortunately. But the memories are real, and the memories are long lasting for me, and I have so much appreciation for everyone who's come on this journey with me, whether you have worked with me through Food Business Success as a one on one client, or that you've just been a listener, or that you are a future listener, and that you're getting support in this way. I'm so glad that it was here to guide you and to help you in your journey.

Sari  4:27
So as I thought about this final episode, of course, I got all in my head and the expectations that only I am putting on myself, like it's got to be amazing. It's going to be the best podcast ever. And when I let that go, as I worked with my coach, my one on one coach, she said, who is this episode for? And that helped me. That stopped me right there. And I said, I want this episode to be for the dreamers, for the people who are just thinking about this, who have this inkling of this idea. And it's so funny, I had the gift of having a one on one call right before getting on this zoom here to record this episode, and I was speaking with a founder who has an amazing idea. He has a whole vision for this idea. He started on it with some graphic design, got the recipe, the formula worked out, and now he's at that crossroads of who it's going to take some bigger investment, right? Like, is he really committed? And we had this conversation about this future vision and what he wants for his life.

Sari  5:46
And it's just so poignant, because when I think about who I want this episode to be for, and the legacy that I want to leave, And I get some emotions that come up around that it's like, I wanted to be for him. I wanted to be for her. Wanted to be for you, the one that's like, what if I could lead my destiny? What if my desires, my dreams, are possible? What if I could be in business for myself and guide my own ship, right? Captain my ship and make decisions and run a business. And I won't sugarcoat it, right? This is not an easy industry to be like wildly successful in. It's possible, absolutely. And I will tell you that the people who do it, who are the Poppies and the seat A foods and the Justin's Nut Butters, they 100% seek outside support, advice, mentorship, coaching, guidance. None of this is done solo. None of it is done in a vacuum.

Sari  7:00
And we are fortunate that the packaged food community, the especially the Better For You Foods is very supportive, very welcoming, and it is not going to be without a considerable amount of effort that is fueled by your desires to create a business that you get to define the success. One of the most important things that I stand for as a business coach is that there is no one definition of success that you and only you get to define success. And for some of you that might be a giant exit. And for some of you that is going to be I got on the shelves of Whole Foods Market or Sprouts or Natural Grocers. For some of you, it might be on Amazon or your own direct to consumer site. And some of you that will be at farmer's markets engaging with people who are really into your products, right, who love that. And I think it's so good for us to come back to the why, why do you want to do this business? Why is the desire there? Because I can promise you, a 100% that most people don't want to start a packaged food business. You are here because you have a desire. There is that little voice in you that just won't let up. And it's important, I think, to come back to why. Why do you want this? Because here's the thing, let's just say the reasons that you want to do this are because you want to have more creative expression and more freedom in your life. Well, it is possible for you to do that without actually starting a business, right? So sometimes we are given the desires to help us clarify the why, and then look for other ways that come from within us that we can expand into that so there are so many ways that you can be creative without officially starting a business. There are so many more ways that you can create freedom in your life and feel more free. You don't have to start a business if you have this delicious idea. And you examine the whys and you realize that, yes, I could create freedom in other ways. I could create financial independence in other ways. I could be more creative in other ways. But I want to do this. This is what my heart is telling me I want to do that is not ridiculous. It is not selfish. Genuine desire is not something to diminish or apologize for. I want you to follow your heart. It is through you following your heart, through recognizing, through honoring your desires, that we create more love in the world, that our world expands and opens up. I'm so grateful for people who follow their desires, whether it was the Wright brothers who had a desire to figure out how to get something up in the air to fly, or whether it was Walt Disney with following a desire to create animation and to put things up on a screen before that was a thing. Or whether it is your desire to create your product, to put it out into the world, to help other people with a health issue, or to enjoy their life more, to create more connection. Your desires matter. This desire to start a packaged food business isn't frivolous. It isn't wasteful. It is life wanting to create something and experience something through you. It is how you are able to tap into the best versions of yourself, and the legacy that I want to leave behind is this idea that what you want matters and what you want wants you. It's a two way street. It's not just you going out there chasing after something. What if you truly believed that the vision you have for this business and for your life also wants you, that it's coming at you at the same rate that you are going towards it. Think about how we slow ourselves down, how we get into doubt and confusion and overwhelm, and we deny ourselves. The thing you want wants you, but you have to show up. You have to get into action. You have to get committed. You have to be willing to go all in. It will come to you if you start taking action, right? That's like the magnets that start attracting each other.

Sari  12:08
So instead of looking at it like you're chasing after something, what if it's calling to you? The desire you want, wants you, and you are the perfect person to make this a reality. How do I know this? Because it's your desire. I truly believe that we are not given desires that we are do not have the capacity and the capability, the potential to create. The fact is that you are here. You are listening to this. Something is pulling you forward. You could spend your time so many other ways, right? But you're choosing to spend it listening to a podcast about starting a packaged food business. So that tells me something. You are the perfect person, and you're the perfect person because you're also going to overcome your imposter syndrome and your feelings of unworthiness and undeserving, and you're going to become a master of finance and truly understand numbers and how to run a business and become a CEO and lead. And all those things will come. They don't come overnight, but you got to get into the river. You got to take those next steps, right? So it's about believing that this idea has merit, has worth and deserves to come to light, even if you only help one person. What if success is simply honoring your desire and getting into action, and that you started pulling on the thread. That's what I call it with my clients, we're pulling this thread. The carrot or the pot of gold, whatever your desire is at the end, right, of whatever this vision is for you. That sometimes we think that's it. But what I know after, well, now it's like nine years of being in business and going on these journeys for myself and with clients, is that sometimes the carrot, the thing that we're going after, is just the thing to get us into action, to get us starting into motion. And that sometimes we get on the journey and we realize that that's actually not the thing, but nothing is lost there, because it's about you getting into the journey of your life. It's about you starting to open up to expansion. It's about you healing your inner wounds and you becoming the best version of yourself, and I know that entrepreneurship is one of the fastest ways to do that, because it will expose all of your cracks.

Sari  12:08
It'll expose all of your vulnerabilities, your money issues, right, the worthiness issues. You being more visible. You asking for the sale, all of those things are going to challenge you in ways that no other thing can. And yet it's 100% worth it, because even if you never made a dime on this, it would still be worth it. And yeah, that's like the cherry on top, when you start making money, and then we're starting to put it like, grow it bigger and bigger, and we start the big snowball effect, and we're getting into action. But you know what? It's you just kind of keep going on the same ride, and you keep learning some, relearning the lessons. But it does get more fun, and honestly, I wish everyone wanted to go on the entrepreneurship journey. Most people don't want to do this, but you are here. You are listening to this episode, which tells me that there is part of you that wants to go on this journey. So honor that. Get into the flow.

Sari  15:17
Because what I know after five years, 260 episodes, is that when you honor your desires, you are contributing something vital to this world. We need your contribution. You're also giving others permission to follow their desires. You're leading by example, your courage to do this work will ripple out into your life, through your friends, through your family, through your community. The world benefits from you trying, from you creating, from you following what wants to express through you. So that's what I want to leave you with. That's what I wanted to get on my pulpit for the final time and to share with you from my heart. I really want you to honor your desires.

Sari  16:54
Go investigate the why first. But if it's this, you can do it. I do want to give you a second gift. So there's the podcast library, the link will be in the show notes. And then the second thing I want to give you is a future self exercise. This is a powerful exercise that I created for my Master of Business students. And then I kind of redid it and put it into its own form. So you can just listen to this visualization. And this is perfect to do if you're listening right now, when this episode comes out at the end of the year, or whenever you are listening to this. This is the perfect way. If I was going back and I was starting a business, this is exactly what I would do. This is a future self visualization. We're going to go into the past first, and we're going we're going to go into 10 years into the future. You're going to create a life you desire, you're living your wildest dreams, your most amazing life, and then it's going to help to bring it into the near future. So you know what's most important to take action on. Because everybody's life is different. And just because you decide to say yes to your desire today does not mean you have to quit your job and get into action and go clean out your 401 K to do this. That's not what I'm saying. Decide whether it's a yes and then start pulling the thread at whatever pace feels right for you.

Sari  18:22
To get that visualization gift. It's totally free. Go to foodbizsuccess.com/futureself. And of course, if we can help you on your journey, Food Business Success is here for you. We love supporting early stage, just an idea entrepreneurs who are working on launching, growing and scaling their business from zero to 500k. Creating this podcast is something I am really proud of. I am congratulating myself, patting myself on the back, thanking my past self for getting into action. It has been my joy to be here almost weekly, every week, creating a new episode. And it's something I'm really proud of to leave as a body of work, in the legacy, in the work that I do to support entrepreneurs, I will tell you that I do have a second podcast that I am really excited to put more energy into. It's called Reinvent With Sari. And so if you would like me in your ear, continuing, it's a little bit more sassy. It's not food specific. But if you'd like to hear more of me, you can go and check out that podcast on all the podcast platforms. This is your time. Life is really short. And so if this is calling to you and it's heck yes, then get into action. Start pulling that thread, and until next time, wherever that is, I hope you have an amazing desire filled week.
